A few years ago there was no escape .
Whether on YouTube, at close-up shows, on the big stage or even at children's birthday parties:
👉 The Rubik's Cube was everywhere.
Magicians have solved it…
…make appear…
…make disappear…
…magically repaired in seconds…
…or even presented as a mentalism miracle.
The Rubik's Cube has almost become a symbol of modern magic.
But now comes the big question:
Is the hype over?
The Rubik's Cube dominated magic for years.
We have to be honest:
The Cube was a perfect prop.
Everyone knows him
He looks intelligent
He seems impossible
He is visually extremely striking.
It works in any environment
Close-up magicians loved it because it happened right in front of their eyes.
Stage magicians have used it because the colors are recognizable even from a distance.
Comedy magicians have incorporated it as a running gag.
Mentalists have "solved it mentally".
Children's magicians have incorporated it as a colorful toy.
The Cube was everywhere.
Almost too much.
But: Is it still "Wow" today... or more like "Another Cube"?
The audience is not stupid.
Many viewers have already watched dozens of videos:

Spectator mixes – magician solves
Color change
Two cubes compete against each other
And that's exactly where something happens that always happens in magic:
An effect is performed so often that it loses its magic.
Not because he's bad…
but because he is becoming too well-known.
The Rubik's Cube might be at this point right now.
The magical world continues to move
Trends change.

Storytelling instead of “Look what I can do”
Ultra-visual social media moves
Organic, improvised street magic
In contrast, the Cube sometimes seems like a relic from the "2016 Magic YouTube era".
But does that mean Rubik's Cube Magic is dead?
No. Quite the opposite.
The Cube will never completely disappear.
Because it has something that hardly any other object has:
It is a built-in impossibility symbol.
A solved cube always feels like a small miracle.
But…
Perhaps the Cube is no longer “the trend” today…
but rather a classic.
Like cards.
Like coins.
Like ropes.
